10th Columbia CLEC 4 days to go.

Columbia CLEC entry will CLOSE mid-night Thursday, 8th

Final briefing will be sent Thursday evening to all entered.

Just sending a short brief regarding Saturday, 10th July the 10th Columbia CLEC. We have come a long way over the past 10 years, with some great racing and stories to tell, which hopefully will continue next weekend.

Will take place on Friday evening from 7pm until 9pm, for those camping at the sailing club or staying in Carlingford, and of course any local teams wishing to register early, please do so. This will ease many problems on Saturday morning.

Limited registration on Sat. morning – 7.30am until 9am.

Team competitors must register together – this is the only way that we can ensure that all competitors are signed on for the race, and that the registration of a team is done and dusted in one go.

Pre Event
Race briefing at 9.30am, after which it’s a walk over to the village for the start at 10am behind the Carlingford Piped Band

On the course

For those lucky enough to receive their new ‘Ravenous’ trail runners, don’t forget to pack them into your kit bag. If using MTB shoes, you will have to carry your runners with you for the duration of the race and it would be advisable to have a rucksack to carry these. If you arrange for them to be taken or leave them behind at any transition, it will be at your own risk, but we’ll do our best.

It is recommended that teams will stay together during the race, you can only leave a transition area with a full team unless a team member has withdrawn from the race.

Water and bananas and other goodies will be provided both and T3 (Fox’s Rock) and T1 (Sailing Club), Drinks only at T2 (Annaloughan) otherwise you must carry your own.

Drink (Recommended to bring enough to last 5 – 8 hours). Suitable food / energy source (Recommended to bring enough to last 5 – 8 hours)

Please close all gates after you even if another team is approaching in the distance. Gel packets and food rappers please take them to transition, and dump ‘em there, not on the mountain please, thank you. ‘Leave no trace’ !! Drink bottles will not be available at transition for you to take with you, however we recommend you refill your bike bottle and use that. Just a wee bit too much litter on the mountain last year.

Each member of the three and two person teams will be issued with ‘Columbia event bib’ which must be worn at all times during the challenge. All two or three member teams are finished when they have crossed the Columbia finish line and ‘Binned’ their bibs on the line.

Post Event (Ohh, yes !!!)

BBQ meal for all competitors and friends from 5pm until 6pm (Food will be kept for late finishers…so no need to hurry !!) Competitors will get one ticket at registration, extra tickets will cost €10 each.

Prize Giving will be at 6.30ish in the sailing club.

Music by ‘The Stormers’  until late, usually a great night so organise yourselves and stay the night if you can.

  1. had a great day at your first tarmac clec on sat. was going great guns until i took a wrong turn on 2nd bike stage but not to worry. learnt a great lesson for the next one. great grub afterwards was very much appreciated. ps johnny best of luck in your alps challenge this week
